A few years ago when my sister was still living in my house i remember that she would always talk to me and she will always gives me words of wisdom. Ofcourse because shes older then me i would always listen to her. When i read the following quote by Andre Gide it reminded me of something my sister use to always tell me when i was younger. "Theirs always going to be someone that doesnt like you, you dont have to pretend to be something your not just so that person would like you".

"It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not."
André Gide

The intended effect in this quote is symbolism the author uses the words hated and loved in the same sentence this is symbolizing that sometimes its best to do the opposite and not care what wether people are going to hate you or love you for what you do.

  1. The quote you had put in this post is very true, and i like it, because nobody is ever going to be 100% like by everybody. also there is not point to change wgo you are for other people because you are who you are and thats what makes you, you.
